With temperatures slow to warm up, the spring growth on greens has also been delayed. Frosty mornings are keeping soil temperatures below normal. Until we see warmer, consistent soil temperatures, the greens will stay at their spring recovery height. This will also help in the healing of our fall drill & fill holes. This important spring growth, for now, will take precedence over speed.
Another important factor in allowing our greens to wake up properly is the long season ahead. We have a busy 7 months in front of us. The greens need to be healed & strong for the June-October stretch.
