Fall Maintenance & Ballmarks

We are well on our way with fall maintenance...

  • Greens:  The scheduled punching, seeding and top-dressing of greens for September 8th / 9th was postponed due to weather. This work was split between Maintenance Mondays with the punching completed on the 9th, followed by heavy topdressing and brushing this week. Greens are healthy, smooth & slightly slower from the sand & brushing. Greens heights will increase as we move into the fall to help reduce wear as daylight hours decrease.
  • Ballmarks are particularly bad considering the time of year and amount of play the greens have had this year. We ask ALL members to be diligent in properly repairing all ballmarks they encounter.
  • Tees: All tees have been verti-cut, top-dressed & matted this week. While they look a little beat up now, they will recover with the cooler temperatures. Tees did not see these cultural practices this summer due to the heat. We are hoping to increase the work on tees this fall, getting them back to a healthier, firmer surface.
