Mandatory Hard Hats
Some members have inquired to the use of hard hats by turf staff. The turf department is regimented when it comes to staff safety. All staff are well trained in equipment use & well aware of the potential hazards that are associated with working on a golf course. The Club supplies Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to all staff which they are required to use.
This includes a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear. Hard hats in particular, are essential, when in the line of fire, and are mandatory. Staff are also instructed on the etiquette of working through golf. You will find turf staff working amongst golf, but also watching for play as they have been trained to do so.
The hard hats we wear are industry standard and resemble base ball caps. The large front brim covers the face from damaging sun. The cap protects the head & temple while still allowing for hearing protection.
Inevitably on a golf course, there is always the chance of getting hit. We always appreciate the concern members have toward the staff and their safety. The BGCC Turf Department is well trained on keeping an eye on golf and will continue to work safely through golf.
