Older bunker growing in the natural look           New bunker faces…#17 + #5 & #6

New Bunkers

With the new bunkers  on #5, #6, #17 green, we are working on going back to the original grass edge which was developed by Stanley Thompson. This brings back a more natural look to the bunker as opposed to the “landscaped edge”. This also helps with soil erosion and contamination of the bunker sand.

The look we are moving toward (which will take time to grow in to be managed correctly) is in the picture attached… the new bunkers on #5, #6, #17. The bunkers edge aesthetically might look unkept to some, and more natural to others.

We have received a few comments about bunkers, more pertaining to footprints and no raking, but with the preferred lie rule, they are functioning quite well.
