Bunker Rake Placement ~ “T” marks the spot.
Bunker rakes are a necessary tool to ensure playability for your fellow members behind you. Their placement is just as important and follows two criteria; the playability of the hole and being available points of entry. To make bunker rake placement clearer, we have marked these areas with a white “T”. Turf staff will have the rakes in place every morning; members please replace them when finished raking.
Bunker playability: Bunkers are a highly maintained hazard. Turf staff prepare the bunkers daily to ensure a consistent playing surface for members. Members are asked to always smooth footprints after playing their shot so players behind them may enjoy the same conditions. As a general rule, rakes are placed at the backs and sides of bunkers so they do not interfere with balls entering the bunker or shots exiting the bunker.
Bunker access points: Doug Carrick has designed all of our bunkers with entry points. These are areas where members can safely enter and exit the bunker without causing damage to steep faces or risk injury. As a matter of design, this is where you will find the bunker rakes placed every morning. Generally, the fronts of the bunkers and several low sloped areas on the sides offer these access points. Members are reminded to please avoid entering and exiting bunkers on steep faces!
Look for a rake…. that is your safest entry point.
As you come out... place the rake in the same spot.
T... marks the spot!
