Winterizing the Golf Course
At the End of the Rainbow... |
With less than 2 weeks left on our golf calendar, we are now getting the course ready for the winter.
Collecting the annual fall leaves is an ongoing process and will continue until we close. Greens have seen many cultural practices to prepare for the winter… drill and fill, top-dressing and aerifying.
The winterizing of the irrigation system will occur next week, Nov. 10-12. The final winter fertility/protection will be going out next week as well. As the course closes November 16th, our construction enters its final stages with the remainder of new asphalt going down and the hope that all sodding will be completed before the snow flies.
It has been a season of change at BGCC, and the anticipation for next spring is on everyone’s mind… a new golf course!
Finally, on behalf of the turf department, we cannot thank the membership enough for their strong support and encouragement throughout this season.
