Senior Club Championship

Ladies are encouraged to sign up for the Senior Club Championship. Out of 69 respondents to last year’s survey, 27 indicated that they preferred having the Senior Ladies Club Championship the same weekend as the Senior Men’s club Championship. Where are you?? A combined Senior Club Championship makes it less complicated for the Pro Shop to manage and falls in line with the concept of merging events with men/women. Regrettably, I’m attending a wedding that weekend and wish everyone who participates the best of luck!

Ladies Member Guest

The Ladies Member Guest, Fairways With Friends, was held Tuesday, June 11th.  The organizing committee consisting of Karen Dyson, Lynne Hague, Deb McMillan, Jayne Riley & Claire Salisbury did an outstanding job. Participants were treated with perfect weather and some special touches, like fun games, white sangria as pre-dinner drinks, hors d’oeuvres served on the patio, a delicious meal and a hole in one by our Professional Ryan Beaudoin on # 15. The guest gift, a charcuterie board, made from a majestic Oak tree that stood on the tee block #15 for more than 100 years created by a master craftsman was a HUGE hit. Many members, including myself purchased one. If you’re interested, I’m pretty sure there are still some available for sale in the pro shop.

Solheim Cup/Charity Member Event

The red team prevailed by 6 points this year (35-29). What a better way to celebrate Canada by helping those less fortunate and being part of an event that supports the community we live in. This Charity Member event was in support of the Burlington Food Bank which provides nutritious food to the hungry of our community in a dignified and timely manner, feeding over 750 residents monthly and in 2018 providing food to 8500 Burlington residents of which 40% of those assisted were children. We raised a total of $2,560.75. The 50/50 raised $980 (thank you Julie Allen for donating your portion of the 50/50 -$490.00 to the Burlington Food Bank); 450 lbs of food valued at $1170; $310.75 from last year’s charity event; and $100 from the winning team in lieu of prizes. Lesley Fox, member of the Board of Directors accepted the donations and expressed her sincere appreciation. Way to go ladies!

Team Play

The weather has not been the best on Thursdays for Team Play but I commend all of you who have come out and persevered through rain, wind and cold. We have 4 teams participating in the league:  Chip’n Gals, For Fox Sake, Play’n Jaynes and Sand Tramps. There have been 5 games to date and Chip’n Gals have a significant lead with 113 points followed by For Fox Sake with 77 points. Diane Regan is leading the low gross scoring average while Anita Ali is leading the low net scoring average. Don’t give up ladies, lots can happen. Because of the short season, playoffs will start Thursday August 15th.  The team Play party is scheduled for September 5th.

Mystery Tour

At the request of our host club, we were only able to accommodate 30 ladies. Ryan Beaudoin and myself did the draw on June 28th and thirty lucky ladies were selected. You will enjoy breakfast on the go, board the bus, enjoy a round of golf followed by a delicious lunch and a ride back to the course. We sincerely apologize to the ladies who are on the wait list and wished we could have accommodated everyone who signed up.

Our first interchange took place on Thursday June 27th and we had eight ladies travel to Hamilton. BGCC is hosting Beverly on August 8th and online registration will begin July 12th. If you host, you will have “first right of refusal” to participate at Beverly in 2020. The last interchange will be held at Mississaugua Golf & Country Club on September 26th.  Both of these interchanges will be offered to twelve ladies.
