Dear Lady Members,
There are many tournaments held by the Ladies at Burlington Golf and Country Club and they are a big part of our traditions. Traditions have the ability to unite across time. Though the act of tradition itself may change and evolve, it’s essence of why it is done never will. Traditions provide us with stability, a sense of identity, build memories and helps to draw us closer together.
When people have roots and knowledge of history and heritage of their society they are a part of, they are better grounded and as a society function better. Traditions are a way of passing things along from one generation to the next.
Tuesday Ladies Golf Day with all of its events are important traditions at our club. Our next up and coming traditional event is the Robert Johnston Tournament. This two day tournament is on August 2nd and August 9th this year.
We have the Hamilton Interchange on August 18th here at BGCC and we are looking for 12 ladies to be hostesses. These 12 ladies will have the first right of refusal for next year when the interchange is at Hamilton.
Another tournament that is a big part of our traditions is the Ladies Club Championship. This 3 day event is being held on August 26th, 27th and 28th. For the last few years, the ladies who do not wish to play have been volunteering their time to be spotters on holes 9, 15, 16 and 17. We also have a Roving Rules Lady to help with those tricky little questions that pop up in a major tournament. Debbie Bristow our Golf Captain is again looking for volunteers for these 3 days. If you can volunteer for one, two or three days and are interested in being part of this tradition, please email Debbie at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
These traditional tournaments are very important for the women of our club. It is a chance to get together with old and new friends and I hope to see these traditions continue for many more years.
The Ladies Executive is here to help the ladies golfing section. Please contact me or any of the ladies on the executive should you have any questions, concerns or ideas to share. We really enjoy getting feed- back from our ladies section.
