Welcome to the 2017-18 Curling Season at BGCC!
While it was fairly quiet during the off season for curling, some improvements were made. Repairs were made to the roof at the home end above sheets D, E and F which should stop the leaking that happened last year, and new cameras were installed above the houses at the scoreboard end.
In a little over one more week, we will begin a clear water rinsing of the floor to get rid of dirt and debris that accumulates overs the summer. The compressor should be turned on around September 12 which is the official kick off to ice making. The key for us will be cool nights with low temperatures in the single digits.
The Ice Crew is in place with one change. Anthony Kuznik who was my number 1 assistant is now the Head Ice Tech at Dundas Granite. Anthony passed his level 2 certification this past summer. You still might see him working on our ice as he wants to stay in contact with BGCC. We wish Anthony all the best and "May your ice be fast with a little swing."
So curlers, enjoy the rest of your summer, start your stretching exercises and see you on the ice. Good luck and Good Curling!
