BGCC Turf Bulletin
Welcome to the (late) spring flush of growth...Long grass & Maple keys!!
As we all have been anticipating the arrival of spring which turned into summer, the heavy spring growth has arrived. This flush of growth hits us every year lasting 3 to 4 weeks depending on temperature. As you can tell from our rough, it is growing!! Crews are working hard to stay ahead of cutting while still maintaining quieter times for members to enjoy. The trees are also doing their part by dropping every kind of key, seed, flower and nut. This clean up can take hours with many areas revisited multiple times throughout the day.
After a cold start, a major windstorm and work to our greens to remediate winter damage, the greens staff is working hard to “detail” the course conditioning to the level we all expect. The course is coming back on line and improving each and every day.
I do want to thank members for their comments of support & understanding.
Also knowing we have 5+ months of great golf ahead!!
