1 Tattler The www.burlingtongolfclub.com June 2014 As we plan and work through the 2014 season, your Membership committee has been discussing a number of initiatives not only to enhance the value of our current membership but also to attract new members through either conversion from the Trial program or new direct members. As a backdrop to our efforts, we are well aware of the current challenges that our golf course faces regarding both fairways and greens. Our team is very proud and pleased with the patience and support that our membership has portrayed. It is during these difficult times that we are reminded of the strong character of our membership and how deeply this translates into the stable foundation from which we promote our golf club. We are happy to report that our Trial waiting list for 2015 remains healthy and our expectation is that we will have a full contingent of new Trial members heading into next year. We are also confident that the current group of Trial members will come to recognize the outstanding value of conversion to full membership status by the end of the year. Our Junior and Intermediate categories are also doing well. With the combined anticipated conversion rate of current Trial members and new direct members we are confident that both of these categories will remain robust going forward. On July 5 th we will hold the Membership Appreciation Day to acknowledge the opening of the greens to thank our members for their support. Details will be forthcoming in the weeks to follow. Please watch for this information as it promises to be a great day of celebration. Our committee also encourages members from the Curling section to take the opportunity over the summer to play the course, sit and relax on the patio overlooking the 18 th green and picture yourself as a full BGCC member. Curling members are not acknowledged enough for the support they provide to our club during the winter. This section represents a key target for future membership growth and the committee looks forward to exploring new initiatives to catalyze membership conversion from this section. Looking into the future, your Membership committee envisions a product offering that will rate among the best private facilities in Ontario. We will have new Bentgrass greens, updated cart paths and bunkers and a new re-routed golf layout. When you combine all this with an elegant clubhouse, caring staff and an active, friendly membership we feel strongly that BGCC will continue to attract new members to meet replacement requirements. Your Membership committee is made up of the following members; Chris Coons, John McArthur, Robert Hague, Rob Hinrichs, Joanne Osbaldeston, Cynthia Shanahan, David DeSaverio, Trevor Fackrell and Tami Fisher. The aforementioned shareholding members and our staff give of their time freely and provide a wealth of ideas to improve the membership experience, identify new target audiences and acquire new member conversions. We would not be successful though without the continued support of the BGCC family. We thank you for this, particularly during this tough start to the golf season.
